Free laundry basket
Substitute a cardboard box, lined with newspaper, or better, line it with plastic bags. You can cut hand holds from the sides. Sturdy cardboard boxes will last as long or longer than many plastic laundry baskets.
You can also take an old vinyl tablecloth and make a liner for the box. It works well and they last a long time. I'm alway loathe to throw those tablecloths out even after I quit using them for the table because they come in handy.
clean clutterfree, my mother always used newspaper to line her laundry baskets back when plastic wasn't so common. It never left marks on them. Maybe the ink is poorer quality now?

Huh. I wouldn't want to use newspaper with clean or dirty laundry. It leaves marks.
