Look for the bargains this way

Grocery and other stores put lower priced items at the very bottom or sometimes at the very top, in hopes that you won't notice them and you'll buy the higher priced items at more comfortable levels. Fool them. Check the prices in that hard to see and reach areas!

Are Salvage Grocery Stores Extreme?

Is it extremely frugal to shop at salvage grocery stores? I got into a conversation with someone who thought so. She thought the food there was out of date, crunched cans and ripped packages. I tried to tell her that the government didn't allow food like that to be sold for human consumption.

So... do you shop at salvage grocery stores? I do. And I don't think it's extreme, but I think it's smart.

Are you extremely frugal?

Are you? Sometimes I am; sometimes I am not. That's human nature. With Christmas coming up in a couple of months, the shopping spirit comes alive for most of us, frugal or not. Now's the time to hold tight. Make a gift budget and stick to it. Plan now before the fever hits. If you haven't already bought gifts, make lists and pay attention to costs. Start watching grocery sales for things you will need for Christmas dinner or parties and get them while the price is lowest.

Put it off

Do you need a new computer? Printer? Shoes? Stove? Whatever it is, if you can replace it now, put the money in your other pocket. The longer you can hold out the better off you are because the new item won't start wearing out until you buy and start using it.

Buying liquid products

When you buy liquids in see through containers (dish soap, vegetable oil, etc.) check the level of the liquid. They're not always the same, so get the one that's the fullest.
