Make your own Easter basket

Make your own Easter basket from rag strips if you have a little time. You can crochet, knit or braid them into long strips then lace them together in the form of a basket. Start at the bottom and lay them in a circle or oval, then stitch them together. When the bottom is as big as you want it, start the sides by stacking the strip and sewing it down. Try it; it's easier than it sounds.

Using old socks

Got old cotton socks? Cut the toes off and cut them along one side, then sew a zigzag stitch around them to use for cleaning rags. I've even used them as dishcloths. The tops make good sweat bands for cold drinks. Put the rest of the sock over your hand to dust with, or sew a piece of lace or ruffle onto the top and use as a personalized wash cloth in the shower. OR... sew velcro to fasten the top, then use up those soap slivers by putting them inside the sock.

No more paper towels

Can't live without paper towels? I wonder what your grandmother used?

Some probabilities: Hang up a real towel in your kitchen to dry your hands. Use a dishcloth to swipe up counter top and table messes. Use rags for the floor and anything really messy. Cut up material that's not good for anything else, to use as throwaway rags. (Keep them separate for the really yucky things.)
