Quick, warm and easy bed socks

Wear socks to bed! There's nothing more snuggly than having warm feet on a cold winter's night. If you don't want to use your regular socks, make 'bed socks' by cutting a triangle of flannel or warm knit cloth big enough to fit over your foot with one point at the toe. Sew a seam along both edges, leaving a hole big enough to fit your foot through, turn down the edges and put elastic in it.

Deodorizers

Forget buying expensive deodorizers for anything, including your feet, the trash can or smelly drains. Baking soda does it all. Sprinkle some in your shoes. Put some in the bottom of the trash can. Pour a little down a stinky drain and follow with a glug of vinegar. All done and everything smells fresh. You can still find baking soda here for about fifty cents a box. Pretty cheap, when you consider how far it goes and how well it works.

Keep your feet dry

Cold and snow and wet weather! Winter is upon us and if you're boots leak or you don't have anything waterproof, here's a cheap way to survive: Put on your socks, slip your feet into bread sacks (double if they're thin) and put on your shoes or boots. Your feet will stay dry.

Frugal foot care

With spring and summer comes sandals and bare feet. If your feet are still winter dry, give them a spring treatment! Before you go to bed or sit down to relax for awhile, generously rub vegetable oil or shortening into your feet (lard or tallow can be used, too), then put old socks on, then slip plastic bread sacks on over that. After a couple of hours, you can wash it off with warm water and mild soap. The price sure beats the commercial foot lotion.
