Free food for the picking
See an apple tree no one has tended to? Ask if you can pick the apples. It's too late for plums, but there may be pears available still. Go for a walk around your neighborhood and keep your eyes open. There's free food out there. Go get it.

Okay, so I know this is not the right blog, but I tried leaving a comment on your "sandwich bread" entry, and blogger was being uncooperative. (Hopefully you don't have lots of comments from me, waiting to be moderated. Sorry if it flooded your inbox!)
But just in case the comment didn't go through, I wanted to share the recipe I use for sandwich bread: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/amish-white-bread/detail.aspx
I decrase the sugar (or use honey instead) to 1/3 cup. If I am making a whole wheat bread, I use 100% white wheat flour and increase the kneading time to 12-15 minutes.

Good luck!
Thanks, Stacie! I just found your post; sorry it took so long. Thank you for the link to the sandwich bread recipe!
