On becoming more frugal

What we don't buy defines us, at least at times. Here's a challenge:

Every month for the rest of the year, decide upon one new thing that you now buy that you can make yourself or substitute for something cheaper.

Ideas: Napkins, paper towels, canned soup, popsicles, pudding, note pads, potholders, dishcloths, rag rugs, iced tea...

I've been cleaning the garage and had some smallish stuff that needed to be contained. I thought--briefly--about buying some small storage bins. But then I cam to my senses and unearthed several small, sturdy boxes. They stack nicely on a shelf and the contents are clearly labeled with Sharpies. Cost-$0.

I love your statement about how what we don't buy defines us. It's so very true.
