Clean your floor for free
Catch a bucket of hot soapy water from the washer when it spins the first time and use it to mop your floor. It works well for cleaning woodwork, too. You can probably find other uses for it if you look around. Saves on water and cleaner.
I've not tried recycling water from my washing machine, but I do do this: I keep a bucket in my shower. This catches drips, and also the few (many?) seconds' worth of cold water before it heats up. I then use this water 9and it's a substantial amount!) for washing and flushing.
I just lift the drain hose when the washer starts to drain and put a bucket under it. Your washer hoses may not be as easily available, but take a look to see.

Terry, I do that, too. But if you catch water from your washer, it already has soap in it - a double savings.
How on earth do you "catch" this water?
